I'm in need of some guidance.

I recently bought the Origin8 Front Rack, but I'm having some issues with the installation.

It's supposed to attach to the axle and anchor on the caliper hole. I have a 700c quick release standard front wheel, but the rack "legs" are way too wide to attach to my current set-up (there are gaps between the rack legs and the outsides of the fork blades). Also, the rack, when manually held in place, doesn't sit horizontally at all (more like a 15 degree angle from the ground).

So, should I use some kind of spacers to fill in the area between the outside of the fork and the rack legs?
Would switching to a solid bolt-on axle help? Is that even possible? What can I do about the angle?

I noticed someone on Amazon made some doohicky to connect everything (first 2 images). He appears to have a quick release too. Then in Google images I see someone fixed the angle problem by bending/changing the rack legs inserts (last image).

I'm at work now, but I'll have pictures of my bike later.

It appears your pix are not enlargeable when clicked on so it is hard to see any details in them.
Pixel sizes of 150x170 are too small to evaluate. From reviewing the available literature
it appears the axle ends are adjustable to length, ie telescope inside the down tube so as to adjust
to different wheel sizes, ie wheel radius from ~13 to 15" or so. FW axles are pretty much standard
in width so I think you just bend the axle tubing inward until it fits, no spacers needed. Spacers would
reduce the carrying capacity also. Origin8 seems to assume solid axle with some commenters
saying specifically that the rack is not meant for QR and Origin8 not for the newest through axle wheels
either. P clamps could probably be found or devised for direct mount to the fork.

Do what ever it takes to put it on , If the Mechanical problem solving is not something you can do

Tighten the support legs down tight. Where are they attaching? Eyelets, or at the axle? You can pre-bend if you wish.

Adding spacers would just add complication and the potential for weakness and movement

I'd need to see some more detailed images to consider levelling. It doesn't look like you're too far off from the photo.

What do the instructions say?

take it to your local bike shop, pay him $10 to sort it out

there are 2 things that I don't mind paying for .... fitting of fenders/mudguards, and fitting racks

Thanks for all the suggestions. Just yesterday I was on a ride and was at a red light with a cyclist that had the exact same rack on his bike. He said he just squeezed the legs on the front wheel (quick release) and used an old tire tube to anchor the top of the rack to the top tube of his bike.

So, I went home and squeezed the legs onto my own front wheel (no spacers) and I ordered a special P-clamp (thanks Sch), which I'm gonna bend to fit when it comes. I'm using zip ties in the meantime.

So, of course the P-clamp didn't work, as it was attaching the rack (which is already attached to the front wheel) to the head tube of the bike, which of course doesn't allow you to turn the handlebars. I shoulda seen that before I attached it.

BUT, I was able to get my hands on some Hanger Strap, bend it to the shape I needed, then double up with another piece and it works! I may put a 3rd or even 4th piece on later, but for now it's great and perfectly horizontal.
