Cassette question
Ok so I have a 2006 Lemond Victoirre triple which has the long rear derailler.
I have collected different gearing over the years.
So I think I have this gearing for the bike mostly in ulttegra
11 x 23
11 x 25
11 x 27
This is a 10 speed bike.
I recently bought a 2016 Raleigh Tamland 1 This is a 11 speed bike. The 11 speed 11 x 32 didn't work for me so I bought Sram 11 x 36 and had it installed.
I want to get my Lemond ready to climb Pikes Peak. I am just coming off an illness so not in the best shape I would like to be in to Climb Pikes Peak in a month.
Would the 11 speed 11 x 32 from the Tamland work on my bike?
I see they make a CS-HG 500 in a 11 x 32 Shimano mt. bike cassette. I guess this is my best bet to get this bike ready.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Zman

nope.
just about everything 10 sp. will not work with your 11 speed cassette... freehub, shifter, chain, chain rings...

Depending on the rear derailleur, max cog/capacity, you can go with a 10 speed 11-32 or 11-34 depending on how much help you think you need.
You may want to calculate the ratios and gear inches to get an idea how your Lemond would compare to your Raleigh with a cassette change.

What is the model of the 11 speed cassette?
Both 10s and 11s use 1.6mm sprockets.
If the large sprockets are riveted onto a common carrier, then you will be stuck with 11s spacing.
On the other hand, if you have a bunch of sprockets riveted together, then you should be able to separate them, then change the spacers to 10s spacers, dropping one sprocket.
Whether it is worth it to do that, I don't know.
You can also use a JTEK Shiftmate to go from 10s to 11s, I think. You'd only be able to use 10 out of the 11 sprockets.
Whether it is worth it to hack together a solution with the 11s cassette, I don't know. I would think the best solution would be to just buy a 10s cassette.
You could probably also mount your 11x32 cassette on the Lemond for testing purposes, just to verify the derailleur has adequate clearance for a 32T sprocket before buying a new cassette.
