hed belgium with DT 240?

need a rear rim, I mostly climb big hills.

thinking about building 28h hed belgium tubular with DT 240, wheelsmith double butted spokes.

would 2x lacing be fine? or should i go 1x?

25mm tires?

think this would be good?

Bikes: Too many. Giant Trance X 29, Surly Midnight Special get the most time.

You are starting an excessive number of threads on the same subject.

Spoke crossings should be related to the number of spokes. 2x is the standard choice for 28h for good reason. If you want to get exotic, you can lace the nds radial to lose a tiny amount of weight and increase nds tension at the expense of lateral stiffness.

I don't see the appeal of tubulars for noncompetetive road riding. The additional weight of a spare tire more than offsets the weight savings of the tubular rim, and the tires with the lowest rolling resistance these days are clinchers–including tubeless.

The Belgium has a rim profile of around 30mm, so at 28 holes you could go 2 or 3 cross. When the rim profile gets bigger, 2 cross is the default, but you could go either way. I would not consider one cross.

That sounds like a nice wheel @lowlux.

Hey, maybe there's a tubular thread somewhere where these attributes are discussed?

Website says 24mm rim depth... these aren't very deep at all. I'd go 3x but I'm old school.
