Touch Up Paint for Trek Frame

Hi all!

Does anyone know if touch up paint is available for Trek bikes in the frame colors they offer. I have some scratches in my Trek 7200 I would like to touch up.

Thanks!

I have a Trek also and I'll tell you this, "Women's Nail Polish" I have a frame of Metallic Gray and Red and have found these in my wife's stash of polish. Almost a perfect match.

Check with your LBS, they should be able to order touchup paint for you, or go to an autoparts store and look at the small bottles of auto touchup paint. Also check out a hobby shop for model paints. With a little bit of care, using some primer to build up the chip, you can fix it so that it looks like it was never there.

I never would have thought of nail polish, but that's an idea too.

Enjoy

. . . and once you get the price from the LBS for OEM touch-up paint . . . you'll be begging her to let you borrow the polish

The OTHER advantage of nail polish: if it does not look good, you can remove it.

I've given up trying to "match" paint. My rotten "touch up" skills just draw attention to the damage, like a big band-aid over a skin blemish. So, I've gone to clear nail polish. It protects the steel, and none of the original paint gets covered with an "almost" matching color.

I've got a custom orange Klein (ofoto color). Couldn't find a match anywhere until I checked out the ghetto ho colors at WallyMart. Damn near perfect color and it protects great.

Check with a Trek dealer. I did get some from them 10 years ago. If memory serves, it was around $5.

I have also just sent back that 520 to the factory for a new paint job. It came out much better than I expected.
