In or out

Can't seem to find this anywhere.Installing GPX bearings in a Trek frame BB90. The non drive side bearing has an inner protrusion where the crank runs through. Does this go inside or outside? Thinking outside so the crank does not pinch the bearing/frame? Thanks

Inside I believe. Here's how to be sure. Install drive side bearing. Insert the crank spindle and hold it concentric with the empty non drive side. Sight across the shell's face and look for where, if the shell's face were a plane, the shell's face would intersect the spindle. Now look at the spindle and note that there's a step to it's non drive end. Does this step extend deeper into the shell then the bearing with it's step, would fit? In other words if the bearing is installed step in will the spindle's step fit against the bearing step. Or if the bearing step is facing outward will the spindle's step fit against the bearing's flat face (now on the inside of the shell). The spindle is trapped in place by the non drive side bearing, the spindle's step on one side and the LH arm on the other side of the bearing. Andy
