Need help - single speed project

Hi guys.

Iv recently bought a Scattante CFR Elite Carbon Road Bike.

I'm looking to build a single speed with plus size tyres.

My question is..
The bike has bb30, am I able to use a square taper crank set some how in the BB?

Reason for wanting to change the crank setup is there are a few desirable crank sets id like to possibly use on this project.

Is this possible or do I need to stick with the same setup as the bike has.

Tried to add an image but I need 10 post apparently 🤔

Thank

Blair

Make sure you have BB30. There is also PF30 which is different.

There are adapters for BB30 to English bottom brackets.

https://www.excelsports.com/main.asp...ajor=1&minor=6

https://www.amazon.com/FSA-BB30-Engl.../dp/B002ATFTHI

However, I'd encourage you to also consider an eccentric BB30 to External 24mm adapter (many modern cranksets) which should help you with your chain tensioning.

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

I googled BB30 eccentric and got several hits. That looks to me like the cleanest way to adjust the chain slack on your single speed.

Have you considered the vertical rear drop outs and spacing issue? Have you measured the frame and fork to see if larger tires will fit? Just some things to think about when converting a road bike to SS.

I have thanks.
Going to use a white industries hub. 16t free spin cog and a 46t crank.
Fork will be replaced with a Carbon disk fork and
27.5 wheels.

Never thought about the back wheel.. the frame tapers in drastically 😭

Guess it's back to the original idea of a track bike look.

Yep. modern road frames rarely accept beefy tires.
