Cable Splitter Location?

Wondering if locating a connector for the RD underneath the chain stay? This way it would be easy to mount the derailleur after having it boxed for a flight. I have extra connectors so I thought I might give ts a try.

Can the cables be detached from the BB guide? How close to the shell or the stay casing stop can your splitter be placed?

I like the Down Tube just above the shell as my S&S bike's splitter location. Andy

I like the downtube location also. Right after I posted I had a thought. I could use a razor and put a split in the BB guide and this would allow me to keep the connector on the downtube location and be able to "slip" it in & out of the guide.

Are you talking about a bike with frame couplers, or are you talking about an easy way to detach the rear derailleur so it doesn't get crushed without losing your index adjustments?

If it is the latter, don't detach the cable at all - just let the derailleur dangle from its cable in a safe location in the box. If you need more slack, ease the housing out of the slotted chainstay guide. You don't need to completely unhook the cable.

Bike Shipper's Bene Sugg , Detach the RD, from the hanger, Bubble wrap it,
& zip tie it to the back wheel , leave it attached to the cable.

Cable Splitters more for S&S coupled bikes. where it comes apart in sections.
