PB Blaster Dry Lube any good for chains?

I just bought some PB Blaster Dry Lube w Teflon. Then I sprayed my chain w it. Then I did a doubletake. It left a white residue on my rim and rear derailler. The chain looked wet at first. It looked like some liquid came out. But then the chain dried and looked like I hadn't sprayed it w anything. Then I looked at the product and it said "good for saw blades and drawer pulls." huh?

I will give you this cautionary tale. Do not use the original PB blaster. I regularly use wd40 on my chain but i was out so i thought i try pb blaster. 2 chainring bolts came off. The original is super slick and works what its designed for but Not Chains.

it isnt that great for a lubricant replacement. best used for cables & sliding parts, not parts that fully rotate or endure distress.

I would always avoid any sort of spray on your chain. Drip lubes are fine but spray lubes will get spray in places like your braking surface where you don't want that kind of contamination.

I also didn't know PB Blaster made a lube I just use the stuff to remove rusty stuff.

+1. It seems that the OP didn't bother with a backing rag when he sprayed the chain. Still try it nd let us know. Maybe you've stumbled on the answer to all these repetitive "chain lube" threads we suffer with. Andy

Probably not. However, if it's anything like the regular PB Blaster, I know that it will definitely kill ants and roaches.

Dunno if the OP's post was referring to the same stuff, but grabbed some PB Blaster at the hardware store today and sitting right next to it was PB Blaster Chain and Cable Lube. Even had a picture of a whatever-speed cassette and derailleur on the can (and yes, it's a spray can). I didn't bother going further down the rabbit hole because I have a large assortment of half-full bottles of chain lube already, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried this stuff?

If searching for cheap chain lube, I use ATF. Used it on motorcycle chains for years.
