Simple floor stand?
Anyone ever use one of these? Any luck with doing simple maintenance? Thanks!

I have that stand and use it on a workbench when I am too lazy/job too small to set up my Performance Bike floor stand. It works fine for brake and derailleur work and the like, since it holds the rear wheel off of the bench. Just watch how you set it up so that it doesn't pinch the cables running under the BB, if you have them, makes it hard to adjust them.

I had one and tried to use it for maintenance. It was nearly useless for anything but a display stand and a parking device. It got the rear wheel slightly off the ground but the crank arms hit it when attempting to adjust the shifting and it wasn't steady or strong enough for much else. Buy a real work stand.

Have you thought about the Scorpion stand? I am thinking of that for the balcony, when I just want to clean my chain and don't want to break out the parktool stand.

I have no idea if it’s a regular item or not, but Aldi sells a very credible and inexpensive workstand. I happened upon it earlier this year and was very pleased.

Aldi stand
Not a regular item, only comes out one week in May and each store gets so many, and when they sell out it is done. When May comes around, subscribe to the Aldi Weekly ads and Aldi finds, look every Wednesday during May, and when you see them advertised , bike or run to Aldis. I have one and like it much better than a more expensive one I used to use.

Hi have been using a Feedback Sports Recreational Work Stand for a few years which cost $150CAD. It's not as adjustable as other more expensive models but I'm happy with it.
