We have the above at the shop and it stopped pumping grease the other day. I cleaned out the nozzle but it doesn't seem to want to pump any grease.

Is what you have the Park GG1 Grease Gun? Basically it's a rebranded Duelco grease gun and these are prone to stoppages if an air bubble or air pocket in the grease gets to the top of the canister. Remove the top and see if there is a void. If so, push up from the bottom of the can with a screwdriver to fill in the open area, replace the top and push the plunger until grease flow resumes.

Depends on the grease in the Dualco pump gun. Sometimes a heavy grease will jamb up the tip of the gun, requiring removal of the tip and cleaning it completely. High voc liquids and some compressed air will aid in the process. As HillRider suggests this grease gun works on a vacuum system from the grease cylinder and air voids will stop the mechanism. In a few rare cases I have seen the guns fail altogether due to seal leakage and wear on the piston. HTH, MH

Having used a few different Lil Phil guns over the past few decades this story is what I'll taken as standard performance. I also attribute it to air in the top of the cartridge where the pump's inlet is. If the pocket is small you can pump the air away and regain grease flow with enough handle strokes, many strokes. I'll pull out and reinstall the cartridge sometimes and if that still pumps air I'll install a new cartridge, the old one gets scraped out and into the bench top container. It is the one aspect of these guns that I wish was different. Andy

I'm pretty sure the Park grease gun is just a rebranded Duelco and those are refillable from a bulk grease tub or large cartridge. When repacking the can you have to be careful to prevent voids in the grease fill. Even with a lot of care I sometimes get an air pocket and have to do the purge that was mentioned above to restart the grease flow.

I think its' Dualco, not Duelco.

Right. But then spelling never was my best subject.

My dualco got clogged the other day so of course I pushed the plunger like crazy. The clog finally broke loose and grease shot ten feet across the room. Luckily it hit a poster on the wall so it was easy to clean up.

Fortunately it doesn't take good spelling to ride or wrench bikes. Only mentioned it in case folks wanted to do a web search.

A quick fix for most of the grease voids is to loosen the top of the gun and then push up on the lower cylinder. It creates an outlet for any trapped air in the system and gets the vacuum pumping process back in order. Of course this won't work for a clogged nozel on the gun. Which is the other issue with these grease pumps. Smiles, MH
