What is this part?

Tektro HD-T280 hydraulic disk brake lever – what is the part the arrow's pointing to? It seems to rotate and be threaded on. There's a crack in one of mine. On mechanical levers it'd be a barrel adjuster, but not sure what it does here. Strain relief maybe?

I think it's the part you mess with when you want to let air into the hydraulic line so that you can have something to do.

I'd also think it holds your hydraulic line on. But I am just guessing since I've never used that lever.

Welcome to BF!

If yours is cracked, you should check to see if it's still under warranty and if that is item covered by it.

It's called a hose retainer cover, the hose retainer is a metal part inside this. It appears to be purely cosmetic.

Underneath you will find the nut that you nip up when you install a new hose.

On most stuff it is a cosmetic cover covering up the hose and the port on the lever.
