Cannoworms.

see: the Lefty bikes.... including one with a lefty REAR suspension too.
fast, light, and never trusted completely.
i once watched one of their test sessions at Washougal MX Park when i was caretaker up there... it quickly devolved into a series of intense "discussions' when the new engines seized twice in one day.... and the frame cracked again....the Cannondale MX motorcycle division disbanded not long after that test session... development was simply too costly for the rather small company.

a Yamaha prototype i rode a couple years later was conservatively estimated to be worth over a Half Million Dollars... it bristled with Titanium and billet parts... light, scary quick, and one of the first M/C engines using Formula One 4-stroke tech.... i suggested a bit more flywheel weight to tame it down a touch...they agreed.
Santana has inflicted the curse of 1-1/4" stems for at least 30 years.

Yeah, those early YZ400 four strokes came on harder than my CR500.

and the CR500 used an expansion chamber design that purposely snuffed the high end hit.... they would put out over 75 Hp by swapping on a "desert" pipe, and doing some mild porting.... i was adding about 2lbs to the flywheels to get them to hook up in the woods.... Chucky Stealhy made the weights removable...he rode one of my KX 500 woods conversions... the rest is history.

just looked...my tandem is a 1" headset... it was a 5 speed freewheel, originally, and it still has the reverse op. suntour front der...so.. yep, quite OLD.
that bike was well used, and well loved... the baby blue paint is nearly perfect.

Delta and Dimension are a couple of good quality versions that can actually be found at a reputable bike shop. I certainly wouldn’t trust the $5 Amazon specials.

Ebay... search: 1-1/4 to 1-1/8 Cannondale Headset Reducer Tube Adapter 1.25 1.125 EC37 inset

the company is named Gineyea... it's light and fit up easily to the M600 Canny... i can't say how long it will last though, that bike is more of a wallhanger than my daily ride.
Lately the Sp. Sirrus gravellier is getting the mileage... and will likely get a few more tomorrow ..
that reminds me.. i need to get my "evil pumpkin" squeeky toy mounted up to alert the elk to get out of my way...it's still on the DB Ascent... it makes them twitch and trot... for some reason, the typical bells don't work as well... hmmmm....too organic?

If you click on the text or image in that post it opens an eBay.com link, which was the first example I found. Here's a similar one on AliExpress.
Check bar/stem clamp diameter and width - you can use shims but some bars are going to be too wide at the centre for some clamps. These (as with larger riser bars) are not suitable for energetic off-road use as they can't take the sort of torque that results from hitting stuff at speed.

Bikes: Cambodia bike,2012 Fuji Stratos...

Get some riser bars like these. You will have to change both the cables and the housing for the brakes and shifers as raising the bars/grips will move everything up and the existing housing and cables will be too short. These on my Surly Steamroller are at least a 5" rise.

These might be enought with about a 3 or 4 inch rise

i just spotted another 1 1/4 to 1 1/8 adapter option... press-in SLEEVES... allowing use of a standard headset... wish these were around when i was shopping for them... i ended up going with the Gineyea headset...

Bikes: Cannondale - Gary Fisher - Giant - Litespeed - Schwinn Paramount - Schwinn (lugged steel) - Trek OCLV

Headshok is 1.56 inches (not 1.25)

Lefty is 1.5 or 1.56 inches

some other Cannondale bikes used 1.25 headset - including bikes equipped with the ‘pepperoni’ fork … some Gary Fisher early / mid 90’s bikes had 1.25 headset (‘evolution’) … as well as some Klein bikes etc
