71 mm shell width bottom bracket Raleigh
need to replace a 71mm (shell width) bottom bracket and was thinking to get a double lockring setup and a spindle made for a 73 unless I could find a spindle made for a 71
118 mm spindle length is my calculation for a sugino RT double on the '82 raleigh. . .
any suggestions?

Is this an "old" Raleigh?

I recently used a "5P" bottom bracket spindle with the original cups to convert a 196x Hercules 3 speeds (with Raleigh threading) to cotterless cranks. I used only one lockring.
This "5P" spindle measures 119 mm and it came off a Pepsi Mountain bike with a 68 mm bottom bracket shell (go figure). The middle section is 55 mm (compared to the typical 52 mm for 68-mm shell).

Following up on Bill's reply: The OP says replacing the BB. Including the cups? Most all 71mm shells I've had the pleasure to work on also has 26tpi, not 24tpi. Not many 26tpi cups about these days... If the OEM cups are to be reused do know that they are likely a "thin walled" type. As in the end wall is not as thick as most every Sugino (and other name branded cotterless crank Asian and Campy) have. IIRC the difference is around 3-5mm total of wider bearing track spread on the axle. So those "5" axles (intended for the same brand's BB) might not need any added lockrings or spacers. Anyway if the adjustable cup were to not thread in as far as usual no added lock ring will be needed to secure it.
As to axle length: The cotterlless crank arms of that era were "straight", not "low profile". So the axle length for a double (and the small chainline of that era) was often 127+mm. What it will end up with this mash up will be found out for real on installation. Andy
