Ferrule Compitibality Question

I was shopping around for a cheap bag of ferrules on eBay, and I found these:

https://cgi.ebay.com/Shimano-6mm-SIS-...QQcmdZViewItem

Simple question, are there basically standard ferrules? I ask because I'm not familiar with the "Shimano O-Ring Seal," and although these are actually FOR an SIS system, I would like to use them elsewhere as well.

As a follow-up question, should an SIS system only use these specific ferrules, or will the standard Park type I get at my LBS suffice?

Also, I know that it's actually spelled "compatibility."

Most housing is either 4mm or 5 mm. I know some older Shimano brake housing was 6mm if I remember correctly. THis stuff may be too big for your housing. Plus it appears to be plastic and I've never been a big fan of plastic housing ferrules. And those o-rings always seem to create more cable drag and keep gunk in instead of out. I'd get the standard metal ferrules in 5mm w/ the "reinforced" for shifting. Just my 2 cents. Like these... https://www.bikemannetwork.com/biking...HOUSEND/BR4087

Or you can buy these (they have the 5mm version too). 10 is enough for 2 bikes and you can keep reusing them. They'll last forever. A box of 100 will last 10 times that

That's what I thought about the sizing, too, and I didn't notice they were plastic until I took another look. I've always used regular ferrules without problems, and I guess I won't rock the boat. Thanks for the help.
