Heh.
I built one for someone about 12 years ago. Can't remember much except that it was a pain in the neck.
Sorry.

I built one before. I think the spoke lengths were 4x but you lace them 3x (with the twsit). Your mileage my vary

The only reason you'd do this is if you have the wrong spoke lengths. No decent mechanic would build a wheel like this.

Exactally. There is absolutely no reason to twist lace a wheel. It is much, much, much weaker than a conventional lacing.

Unless you are just going for style points or something and don't need a strong wheel. Twist lacing does look pretty sweet.

Measure your spokes like normal, and add 4mm per full twist. Full twist=spoke going to the hole it should be going to, or 2 half twists.

Easiest way is to lace the wheel normally, and then unlace, twist, and re-lace them in pairs.

As stated above, hopefully this is purely a cosmetic project. I have a few twisted wheels, and they do seem as 'strong' as most of my other wheels, the are constantly needing retensioning. Getting equal spoke tension wth twisted spokes is pretty much a write off.

Bikes: Too many to count

It is weaker, but not by much. The cool factor is too hard to pass up.

Was it Gerd Schraner or Jobst Brandt who wrote that its better for kids to be rolling spokes rather than rolling weed?
