? about threaded steerer with Aheadset

Hi all,
This is my first post. I am also new to cycling. I have this problem: The forks on my 97 Raleigh M80 is busted. It uses a 1" threadless steerer tube. The only forks with a 1" steerer tube that I can afford is threaded. So my question is can I get away with the existing headset or do I have to buy a headset for threaded steerer? Thanks

The headset and fork systems need to match.

Sorry, it's not likely to work. There are some pretty inexpensive threadless 1" forks if you look. Try www.performancebike.com and www nashbar.com for starters. And, of course, ebay.
