Dragging Toe Clips

my crank is 165mm and my toe clips still drag on the ground... is this normal on everyones?? how can i fix it

Bikes: 1983 Dawes Galaxy, 2006 Raleigh Airlite, 1982 Sun Solo (fixed)

Without, mine do.

This is on an old Dawes Galaxy, and the BB is low to the ground, and the clips are large.

They make toe clips in different lengths. Mountain bike toe clips are generally longer than road bike toe clips. Even in the road bike clips, there are various lengths.

If I lean at all on my fixie before I'm in the clips, they drag. So I just make sure I get in them quick. Not very helpful, I know.

Its not unusual. My metal ones drag a bit and I occasionally bash them when I miss a pedal flip. I generally get about 15 years daily use out of a set so its not a major concern.
Do make sure you have an appropriate size clip (s/m/l).

Normal, unless you want a [humour]"jacked-up mountain bike with an extremely high bottom bracket" [/humour]

That's why we ride with our feet in the toe clips, and indeed, one of the major benefits I found from moving to clipless pedals was that starting up at intersections was easier to do.

This question is like, errrrr, how do I prevent from tripping, I just don't like tying up my laces.

What kind of "fix" do u expect?

There is always duct tape.

Yes, this is fairly normal for bikes with toe clips. They will scrape until you get the pedal rotated and get your feet in them. Just get your feet in the clips as soon as possible. Or change to clipless

From a stop, I usually start my right foot on the ground. My left foot is in the clips, straps tight, with the crankarm aimed up. When I take off, I shift the weight onto the left foot to give it a 1/2 turn. At the EXACT SAME TIME, I toe the right pedal and flip it up and stick my foot into the pedals. Takes less than a second and 5-10ft max. Then I step on the right pedal and off I go.
