Sure you can. With a decent chain tool you should able to add links back as easy as take them off.
Thanks for the kind words.

I thought that I read somewhere that once a link is removed, it cannot be added on, even if the pin is still attached -- the reason being that removing and reinserting a pin will make it looser than before, increasing the possibility of breaking a chain during a ride. Hmmm...

This depends on the type of chain. With Shimano - you're right. With a SRAM - and others I'm sure - you can.

I remember the "Good Old Days" of the Sedisport chains. No 'Master-Link' or such. It was all done with a chain-tool.
