What will dissolve or soften JB Weld?

I need to remove a small amount from an item that I'm going to silver solder.
Thanks in advance.

Nothing. It is an epoxy. You can expose it to temperatures of over 600 degrees or grind it to remove it.

+1, It's epoxy, chip it off and sand down to the metal .. clean.

if you want silver solder job to work, surface has to be clean bare metal,
then flux ..
NB .. silver only fills tiny spaces, Capillary thin,
brass fills bigger gaps and can be laid in a fillet .

Have you tried 'dissolve epoxy' or 'dissolve jb build' on Google? It seems to return good results.
