Well you have to keep in mind that the BWR has the 302% range when COUPLED with the Brompton 2 speed derailleur. The BWR hub itself is just a 3-speed with 50% gear steps (middle is direct drive if i am not mistaken), which as a standalone hub is quite inconvenient. When it comes to 26" wheels you are not limited by the tight clearances of a Brompton rear triangle so you can use pretty much any IGH out there. I suggest look at Shimano Nexus or Alfine. Sturmey Archer is also something worth looking into depending on your project.
Since there is nothing special in the BWR, a hub is a hub, it can be build in any wheel as long you have the correct spoke lengths, rim drillings etc.

SJS Cycles lists the BWR three-speed hub for £2 more than the Sturmey SRF5 five-speed hub w/ shifter. The extreme ratios are the same, but the S-A 5 offers two interior ratios.

For those bikes hubshell is 28 hole, axle is narrow, 112 I think
could core swap with a 36 hole shell,
but the short cassette is for 2 cogs , BMX cog shimano pattern
no big cogs . Hyperglide cogs are not so hot on single speeds
Mk 3 Brompton got a SRAM also for 13,15 half step,
but used Sturmey pattern for the cogs,
so you can put a sturmy cog, 1/8" thick up to 22 t.
may be a part kind of like the 9x3 hub , but shorter..
dual drive hub may have some interchangeable parts
