Help plz.!
Hello People.... I am new to this forum just joined it a minute ago..!
I am looking for some help here is the problem:
I have a trek 4300d, I was trying to clean the bike after a muddy ride so I removed the rear wheel from the frame.
I was then not able to get the wheel back in its place, so I took the bike to the station and got the wheel fixed.
I got the bike back in my car by keeping it on the roof of the car.
Now the moment I got the bike off the roof and on the ground the real brake got jammed and was not moving freely.
I went to the station again and they fixed it, same thing happed when I took the bike of the roof this time.
I just dont understand what is wrong, does this mean a bike with hydraulic disc brakes cannot be kept horizontal..!??!?!
PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME..!!

this is a mtn bike? before you took the back wheel off did you release the quick release on the brakes? did the person who reinstalled the wheel do it? I think you may have moved the position of your brake pads when taking the wheel off. or a the cable is just caught up somewhere.
can you post a few pics? a pic of the lever, the rear brakes and wheel?
PS; 10:44 on a warm spring Sunday is a slow period so it may take 30 or longer for someone to see you post. and perhaps some read it and just could not think of an answer
PSS; OH a disc brake....

You shouldn't do this on hydraulic brakes without a rotor or spacer in the calliper.
It's a easy fix with a flat head screwdriver or a knife, you simply have to prise the pads apart.

Hello Cobba..!! thanks for the reply..!! yes you are correct I did squeeze the brake lever. The station guy did the same thing you mentioned I will try that also.
Just another quick question will such a thing happen every time I keep the bike horizontal..?!

Did the bike come with the the transport spacers forthe discs? These are inserted to the caliper when the rotor when the wheel is removed to prevent the pads from self adjusting in, if the brake lever is applied.
Try your LBS for some, if you don't have any, you can also use thick cardboard for this.
For pushing the pads out, screwdriver with caution, knife no, you could slip, and damage the pads, or yourself, or simplest; don't touch the brake levers when the wheels are off.

Hello jimc101. Thanks for the reply . I did not get the transport spacers for the discs..! pushing the pads out seems the right option and is being mentioned by the experts, however this is what the guy at the service station did. Now my question is why is this happening again even when the wheel is not being taken off the frame. Please advise.
