Offset spoke holes and spoke length
Let me say this is my first wheel build from scratch, first spoke calculating as well.
I'm stumped on the the whole spoke hole offset. So if I were to be calculating spoke length, would you say the offset in these spoke holes would need to be figured in to the calculation? It's a 40 hole Westwood style rim if that helps.
My initial guess is yes, but since I have zero experience I'm hoping someone here can help....

If you wanted to be an absolute purist or if the offset were considerable, you could subtract the amount of offset from the centerline from the flange to center distance.
But if you consider that the change in spoke length is only about 1mm for every 10mm of flange to center distance another millimeter or two more or less won't be enough to worry about anyway.
The only time I'd make the adjustment would be if I was using an offset rim where the spoke holes are moved left to reduce dish.

Manufacturers compensate for the offset by correcting their published ERD (Effective Rim Diameter). But, typically, offsetting the spoke holes, will only reduce the spoke length by a fraction of a mm.
