Crank/Bottom Bracket Movement

If I keep the rear wheel and sprockets from turning while at the same time holding the seat stay post and pushing hard on crank arms with my hand, should I be able to move the crank/bottom bracket assembly? I can move mine forwards perhaps 1/8" at which point there is an audible click and no further movement. This is a fairly new crank and BB assembly, with less than 300 miles on it and I am wondering if this amount of movement is normal.
