Elita to Force crankset - GXP BB question

Hello good people,

Truvativ Elita GXP crankset came installed on my Ridley Xride. I am swapping it out for my SRAM Force crankset I have lying around.

It seems a seal on the non-drive side BB cup came loose when I removed the Elita crank. I don't believe it's a spacer...it is thin, maybe 1mm, and has a gasket around outer edge.

I placed the seal back on cup and continued with the install but I hear some grinding noises on each crank revolution.

Is this a seal do you think, and are these typically removable?

Yep, thanks. I just uninstalled and the external seal definitely broke loose and is making more noise than I care to listen to. New bb on the way.
