Get Permatex Ultra Black rtv silicon at Walmart for ~$6, it works - allow to dry overnight. Stronger and longer lasting than Shoe Goo.

Ok cool. One more question though. I bought some last year with the advice of a poster here, I was going to patch up a tire, but then the manufacturer said they'd warranty it so I just got new tires instead. The new tires are starting to show their age with many gashes, so I decided to fill them in today... however I ended up getting the clear shoe goo, instead of the black (didn't know there was any black shoe goo!). Does that make a big difference or should the clear patch gashes just as well as the black?

+1 clear shoe goo works just fine. Actually, just leaving the cuts works fine for me too, but since I have shoe goo, I have to go OCD on tire cuts...
