shortening SRAM chain?

ok, so I am installing a SRAM pc-1031 10 speed chain, and trying to get it to the right size, I just need to remove 2 links and then install the power lock, but how in the **** do i remove the links? this seems like a really dumb question to me, but my park chain tool wont press out the pins on the chain to remove two links. any help is much appreciated thank you
