No, that's an example of bad QC on the part of Apple, and the US Apple manufacturing buyer whose responsibility is to produce to a certain level of quality. Could very well have been a US corporate level to accept lower quality rates in order to meet demand within the short timeframe and at an acceptable unit cost.

Where else in the world could those phones have been produced at the same cost, within the same timeframe, and with quality control better than what Foxconn did?

Nothing wrong with asking, but you can forget dictating terms to the internet... heard of the Streisand effect, for example?

It's funny but like Chinese products today, there were very high quality Japanese products available even in the 1930's. Both Nikon and Cannon were selling excellently made Zeiss Contax and Leitz Leica look-alikes back then. My father had some British Journals of Photograpy from the early to mid-30's and those cameras were being sold in England then and had excellent reviews. Also, during WWII the Japanese army and navy had better optics then we did.

We in the US never received that level of product quality until the 1950's because we were sure the Japanese only made junk and wouldn't pay for quality merchandise from them.

Warranties are meant to cover this kind of thing. You'll get a new wheel, and maybe it won't break.

This was relevant because that racist dude was whining about products made in China and Bikewise was just filling him in on how things work.

We know your dura-ace wheels are not Chinese made crap, they are not even made in China. The outcome is obvious, you will get a warranty replacement wheel but to answer your other question, I have never seen this before. Most of the dura-ace wheels I have seen were still alloy rims and they seemed to hold up great.

Considering that I trust my butt to bicycle frames manufactured in Taiwan, I am kind of reluctant to dismiss Chinese quality. I know there are many poor quality products, but I'm expecting to see more and more good quality Chinese mainland bicycle products. It's already started...

Regarding Chinese quality control, Just for example, I collect high end metal model cars mostly made in China. The produce some of the highest quality/detailed models in the world. Lots of these high end models are sold by companies originally established in Europe. Most, if not all of them had already moved their production to China because frankly, they cannot achieve the same quality in Europe or anywhere else unless the go with very low volume, "artesinal" contractors that would take many times longer to build each unit of similar quality and will have to charge maybe triple the price or more.
Heck, I bet if you take away all the good stuff that China builds for the world these days......things will literally grind to a halt and fall out of the sky....
Yes, as others have already noted, China builds good stuff and bad stuff as is the case for any other country in the world. People would just have to wake up and admit that the US, Japan and Euro countries do not have a monopoly anymore on product quality.....
This still continuing China bashing by many in the West is just a form of denial that does not do anyone any good in the west if they expect to compete with China and other new industrial giants today...... Remember, the chinese have already sent up multiple space mission succesfully on their own, and that's not peanuts.....
