Spoke tensioning
I am learning how to tension and true wheels for my and my wife's bicycles. Did mine and everything worked great. Now I turn to my wife's Schwinn and her wheels have an unequal spoke pattern. The spokes are arranged in groups of 4 spokes with a gap and then another 4 spokes, etc. How do I balance and true this wheel. Is it any different than a regular wheel of does the gap in spokes mean some special technique to get the wheel trued. Thanks for the help.

You true the same no matter what the wheel. You don't say what the pattern is on your bike, or if the "gap" is really a different amount of space or just appears that way. Most wheels have two offset "X's," then a more open space, but the distance between all spokes on the rim is the same. Pics might help explain what you are talking about.
