BB installation on Kona King Zing 2008
I'm trying to install the bottom bracket cups on a never-built-up 2008 (?) Kona King Zing team frame (basically a Kona-branded Decacciai Scuro or something produced for Team H&R Block when Kona was their frame sponsor). I had some Ultegra 6600 BSA cups and went to install them without thinking, was having trouble getting them started, and noticed the 'Made in Italy' sticker, so I stopped and obtained some Italian thread cups (Tiagra 4500), and they simply won't start threading in.
It doesn't look like I did more than cosmetic damage to the threads trying to put the 6600 cups in earlier. Am I correct in my assumption that I need Italian cups for the frame? If so, why am I having so much trouble getting them in? This is my first carbon bike, but it seems odd that it would need chasing.

Why would a frame destined for a team, where pro mechanics do all, be assumed to be retail ready? But we don't know why the cups won't start. Proper threading match but shell loaded with paint? Improper threading match and still paint in shell? Damage to the shell from who knows what? Shell is warped or filler is in threads (brass/weld)? Does Winnipeg have any good LBSs? One look at by some one who knows their stuff will likely give you many answers. Andy.

Oh, yes. My question was sort of silly. I'm going to head to the LBS in the morning. Just wondered if anyone had any particular experience with Dedacciai's BB shells.
Good point about team frames though, I'm less concerned.

Measured the shell, found it was ~68mm, turns out it's an Italian frame with English/BSA threads. 6600 cups installed fine with some patience and spin nicely. Thanks for advice.
