wheel bearings. please help!

I have a big box store cruiser. A huffy cranbrook to be exact. Long story short, the rear wheel needs new axle/bearing kit because im a newb and ruined some parts. I cant find a rebuild kit for the coaster hub, maybe i dont know what to look for. I dont want to buy a new wheel because i paid 89 bucks for the bike brand new.

Best bet is to take the axle / cones / bearings to a bike shop and have them match up what you need to what you have.

If you have LBS they should have bearings and an axle, sometimes the smaller mom & pop shops have these kind of parts around all the time.
If you know what you actually need online you can pick them up all over.

Just be aware that coaster brake axle threading is usually different from standard axles. Most I've come across are 3/8 x 24 tpi whereas standard 3/8 axles are 26 tpi. Cones and nuts are not interchangeable.

Love it when people use this logic. You got into the bike cheaply enough, you ought to be able to spare a couple extra bucks to make your project work, right?

My logic actually centers around the fact that for 15 bucks more than a wheel i can buy a whole new bike, but the idea makes me ill since a main point of my little project was to finish under 250, which i did. I took a wheel off another bike to roll on temporarily (my wifes, she aint happy). Buying a wheel or an entire spare bike would about double my investment. Im trying to make sure i cant fix the issue with 20-30 bucks instead of 70-90

I presume you're talking about the '31 model A in my avatar. Not mine. It cruises around town regularly on nice days. I just happened to catch the car unattended in a park, so I grabbed a photo.

What does it say on the brake arm of the rear hub?

These lessons are supposed to hurt so you don't repeat them.

Also, with a motor added to an $89 bike...your problems are just beginning.

look for a bike co-op (aka bike kitchen or community bike shop) in your community. They're much more used to doing basic repairs on a budget, or may have a complete hub in a junk wheel, and can transfer the innards.

BTW- if you add your locale to your profile, folks might steer you to a local resource.
