Murdered wheels and tires
I am in the process of murdering my wheels and tires - what is the best method to blacken the lettering on the tires? I used a sharpie, but I think it really looks ghetto. Is there a better option?

Matte black spray paint? I think murdered-out stuff looks ghetto however it's done.

Well, all I had to do for the wheels is peel off the WTB stickers, and remove the residue. The tires have yellow lettering which do not match my silver/black/green bike is why I am trying to cover them up, and Matte Black spray paint may be the way to go.

Personally I think the all black look is usually boring, but...
They make spray paint meant for rubber, you might want to check into it. It's flexible so it won't fall off the first time the tire bends. My dad used it on his Camaro's faded floor mats and they turned out great.

I am not murdering the whole bike, just the wheels and tires. Here is a pic of the current bike:

The red WTB stickers and the white/yellow paint on the tires is what I want gone.

If you really wanted to murder shouldn't you be stabbing the things with a knife?
Seriously, I've never heard of this before.

Tires and wheels finished - came out nice! I kept the G in there, painted it the bright green since the bike is a Goblin. I ended up using Plasti-Dip for the tires, and it matched beautifully.

Leaving the "G"s uncovered is a nice touch. Looks better than I imagined as well.

Can you report back again in a week/month/whatever and let us know if the Plasti-Dip is still holding? I've Sharpie'd a few ugly tire logos and would be interested in switching to your methods if it's working nicely for you.

How come I've never heard of this before?
Get those murdered wheels and tires off my lawn before the police get here!
Is the frame gonna get murdered, too?

Wait wait wait wait wait. No good.
The G hasn't been aligned with the valve. BTW I'm only half-joking.
Murdering, eh? Is that what they call it. Did that to a PC (including CRT monitor, keyboard and speakers) in '98.
Does it have to be blackening? Can I say I've murdered this weapon?
