wheelbuild advice: ENVE rim swap.
I have an ENVE 38mm (front) and 45 mm (rear) carbon tubular wheelset. The spokes and hubs are nothing special, so I'd like to re-use them, building them onto clincher rims. I'd then buy nicer spokes/hubs for a new buld with these nice ENVE rims.
ENVE reports the ERD for the
38mm is 578
and
45mm is 564.
They also wrote that this measurement is what should be used in a spoke calculator, with the add'l length for spokes required necessary for their internal nipple design.
QUESTION: what ERD should i look for to replace these with 'traditional' clincher rims either alu or carbon? Do I have to deduct the additional distance needed to reach the top of the internal nipple in the origal build?

The ERD entered into most calculators is where you want the tops of the spokes of the spokes to end up. So if the spokes now come up to near the outside of the special nipples, then the ERD you'd use is the that which includes the nipples when comparing.
The key here is that spokes need to end near the tops of nipples (whatever kind they are) so there's a difference between ERD and the actual rim diameter at the nipples. That difference is twice the height of the nipples head. (2x the change in radius).

i don't disagree, but remain confused. if ENVE reports the ERD is (for example) 578 for their 38mm rim, do i look for a clincher rim that has that same ERD 578, or do i alter this number? The new cheap clincher rim will use the same spokes but a traditional brass nipple.
