Good report and thanks for the info. I'm surprised it's possible to recut Swiss (35 mm x 1.0 mm) threads to ISO (1.37" which is 34.8 mm x 24tpi or .95 mm pitch) without a really sloppy fit.

It's not that bad to re-cut the threads. It's commonly done on the old Raleighs to go from 26 TPI to 24 TPI. That left 3 good rows of threads, and 3 is enough to hang an integrated bottom bracket onto. For Swiss, at 25.4 TPI and a slightly larger diameter, there may be 5 rows of threads intact after re-cutting. If you use an ISO threaded BB at 1.375" = 35mm rather than a BS at 1.370", then it will be plenty tight.
OP- Where did you pick up yours for slightly less than $70?

I'm a bike mechanic in Switzerland, so this is all useful info, thanks. Being on the French-speaking side of the country, we actually see a lot more French-threaded BBs than Swiss here.

And yes, I made a calculation error in the thread pitch. 24tpi is indeed 1.058 mm.

I kinda feel like asking at some shops, just to see who know what's up....

I've had it done to a bike before. I picked up a need Cilo frame (Reynolds 531 DB, campy drop outs, sports touring frame) with a swiss BB that someone had mangled probably because they had no idea what swiss threading was. I had the BB reamed out and tapped to Italian which, if memory serves me, is a little bigger in diameter than Swiss. I built the bike up and gave it to my brother who is still happily riding it. The job came out great but you certainly want someone experienced doing it.
