Cheap SRAM Front derailleur Question
I tried a Search but couldn't find an answer.
I have a Specialized HardRock 29er about 2009 I think, with SRAM derailleurs. The rear is an X-4, I'm at work and not sure, but the LOW end of the line. Anyway I need a front derailleur. The drivetrain is triple in front and 8 speed in back. I've been looking and I'm not sure what will work I see 3x9, 3x10, etc. I didn't see any 3x8. Since I need the front I'm guessing a 3x9 would work. Any ideas on models that would work, SRAM or Shimano? I'm looking at middle to lower end as it's a lower end bike anyway.
Thanks,
Bill

The FDER is pretty forgiving as to brand type.
If you are looking for something for a reasonable cost/performance, I'd probably go Shimano Altus/Acera sized appropriately for your rings.
FDER's for a 28-38-48 are a bit different than ones for 22-32-44ish.
