Needle in a haystack: high-end 1" fork
So I've been running into all sorts of dead ends trying to find a sub-400g threadless 1" fork, even though a few types exist... I'm a few years late.
Don't mind if it's second-hand, I just need 215mm of steerer. Preferably plain black with minimal decals, but whatevs. Kinda got my heart set on straight blades, though (a choosy beggar, I know).
First choice by a mile is the Easton EC90 aero 1" (it also came in 9/8"), despite its lairy decals - IMO it's pure porn... nobody seems to have any left in stock.
Then there's Felt's Aero 3.1 and 3.2, which took me a while to discover. Apparently 1" steerers are a bit of a thing at Felt, being a feature of their TT bikes to this day AFAICT... but their website doesn't want to take my money. Maybe I can get someone in the US to proxy for me...?
The Mizuno Fiandre is another straight-bladed 1" fork under 400g, but is hard to come by; was mostly distributed via custom framebuilders, I gather.
The Columbus Minimal initially inspired this quest, but the curved blades would bug me... I'm just about prepared to cop another 100+g and go with the Trigon RC38-S.
Just about... but paying the same for a 440g fork when I could have a 330g fork would bug me too : /
Can anyone help with my first three choices, or let me know about any other possibilities?

I Know nothing about Carbon road forks that don't come out of the box with the bike..
Then I just build up the bike and hang the price tag on it.
so I ask , what trail works best for you?
I'd judge the way they feel by how they alter the steering geometry.

Yep, 1" threadless carbon fork are rare and those weighing under 400 gms are even rarer. I have Easton EC90SLX forks on two bikes and they weigh 295 grams uncut BUT they are 1-1/8" steerers so that won't help you at all. And, yes, the logos are a bit garish.
Kestrel made their EMS Pro in 1" threadless for a while but it weighed about 495 grams and has been out of production for quite a while.
Nashbar still lists a 1" threadless fork with carbon legs and an aluminum steerer but it's advertises at 580 gms uncut.
Amazon lists a 1" alloy steerer Ritchey carbon fork but doesn't give the weight which I sure is way above 400 gms.
Not much help is that?

1" Carbon forks were hard to find 10 years ago when I put one on my 531 frame bike, that was a Deda BlackForce 2, just having a look now indicates that they are very few on the market. Wiggle have a Tiffosi but that comes in at 658g, good luck in finding a light weight one today.

I think you should be able to find a Reynolds Ouzo Pro all cf with 1" steer tube. They have been offered in all of the popular rake offsets. Weight Weenies list it at 375 gr. The legs are slightly curved. The dropouts are aluminum. There are a couple on e-bay now. I've put several thousand miles on mine.

I doubt rake is something I have to worry about; almost all forks I'm looking at are 45 or 43mm, which is pretty standard... one I saw was 40mm, but I bet that would be fine too since I've steepened the head angle on this bike a tad (trimmed 7mm off the bottom of the head tube).
Hey, I didn't realise the Ouzo Pro had a 1" variant, thanks guys. It looks pretty cool; it's not my first choice but I think I'd prefer it to the Minimal. One of the ones on Ebay won't ship to Oz, and the other has an 11" steerer, which it'd feel like a crime to cut...
Colour me interested... my offer would depend on the condition. Pics?

Hey, that can't be right...
I see three mobs claiming the Origin8 Pro Pulsion Synergy only weighs 355g. This is a fork generally going for ~$220 new, and as little as $135. I saw another weight for it somewhere, a much more plausible 565g... but it seems it comes in steel or aluminium steerer?
If it really is that light it's a no-brainer, but that would be far more luck than I'm used to on this mission...

Contact "Woundup". I've installed many of their forks and just put one with a 1" steerer tube on my mid-90's ti frame. They are light, strong, and really zooty looking.

if I were going 1in carbon again, it would be with a wound up. Other than its polarizing appearance, I hear nothing but great things.
for another bit of 1in trivia, the UK Sport bikes as seen under guys like Wiggins during the Olympics has a 1in steerer. I thought I also recalled seeing another 1in tt bikes still in production. I didn't think it was felt, but it may have been.
it looks like felt still has stock of the aero fork for $300 USD. Contact me, if you want to discuss getting one sent your direction.

I considered a Woundup until I discovered the weight; over 600g IIRC. I almost dig the look (the crown is cool, as are the socketed dropouts), but IMO it needs ovalised blades.
Cheers, I may well end up doing that, depending how much reptilez wants for his Ouzo if it's long enough.

433g with expansion plug in the fork. steerer tube is 11 and 1/4 inches long. condition is pretty good for its age(5-8 yrs old im guessing). a few scuffs on it. i will try to get pictures later. lighting is not good here right now. you do not see a lot of these reynolds ouzo pro forks in 1 inch anymore. nobody makes a cheapish 1 inch carbon fork anymore as you found out.
433g sounds a bit on the hefty side for an Ouzo Pro; I know that's a long steerer, but three inches of carbon steerer can't weigh much... is it a bulky expander plug?

Wow, that's light... I guess the fork has the aluminium steerer then?
I think I'm starting to lean back to the Columbus Minimal; I can get one for AU$253 delivered, which is pretty much impossible to beat in terms of dollars to grams, and it's new... it occurred to me that since carbon can absorb moisture and get weaker, a used fork with nicks in the clearcoat might eventually cause me to regret being too choosy about the blade shape... I have NFI how much of a concern that is.

FTR, I just got a message about the Trigon RC38-S (440g, US$185 before shipping); it has a 260mm steerer and 43mm of rake.

Anyone in or near Virginia Beach?
So I found a guy selling a bike with the coveted Easton EC90 Aero on it (willing to take a chance on a used one of these super-sexy numbers); I'm going to try to talk him into selling me just the fork and buying one of those other ones to sell the bike (he should be able to make a few extra bucks that way, considering what I'm prepared to pay), but I gather removing and installing a crown race and cutting a steerer could well be beyond him... he seems potentially amenable to parting out the bike, but couldn't give me an answer to my question about steerer details (I later figured the fork should be suitable from the spec of his bike, a Felt B2, and examining the pic, which seems to show about 230mm of steerer).
So is there anyone here who's near Virginia Beach, who's inclined to help me out in this epic struggle to acquire my precious? If you're willing to travel to this guy's joint and swap the fork for him, I could offer you the pick of my parts bin by way of thanks...
I guess the plan if he agrees is to pay him for the fork so he can buy another, and wait until that turns up, so it'd be towards the end of January or sometime February.
Maybe I should sacrifice a goat on an altar or something... guess I'll settle for crossing my fingers.
