Cable and Housing Cutters

Good afternoon everyone. Looking for some suggestions on some cable and housing cutters. Looking at the following:

- Pedro's
- Park Tool CN-10
- Felco's C7

Which do you like?

Thanks!

+1, Pedro's is pretty good, especially for the price!

Based on the reviews, Park and Pedros seem to be reliable for a limited time but they are more affordable than the Felco's. Trying to figure out if it's worth it to spend the extra $$$ on the Felco's.

Read the reviews, did (too much) research, and didn't want to drop big $$ on Felco for personal use. Bought the Pedro's with a 20% off coupon at REI and worked perfectly. Better than trying to use some other cutters and a Dremel cut off wheel, though the fiber cut wheel was good for getting a more perfectly flat face on the housing. There were enough bad comments on the Park tool for me to stay away from that.

I'm on the same page. Going with the Pedro's. Might not be there best ones out there but for my use, they'll suffice just fine.

Shimano's own one is OK .. and there are copies of Swiss Felcos for less ..

U or V jaws are the thing you need with low compression shifter housing.

Just bought THESE (Jagwire Pro Incisor Cable and Housing Cutter). Only $25 w/free shipping and I thought it was cool that it has a built in awl for making the housing round again after cutting. Should be fine. Thanks for the help and suggestions everyone.

Buy SpinDoctor house brand from Performance Bike... Lifetime warranty, cheap, and they are awesome. I don't see a need to buy any "fancy" brand...

Go to a Menards or Lowes and get a cable cutter. I bought one for way less money and it smokes. Just look around for the one that will cut the best and usually this will be a bit more expensive and better made. The key is that in the end it is much cheaper than going to any bike shop/tool company. In the real world of cutting cable, bike housing and cable are nothing to cut.

Lowes has two cutters. One is $25 and the other is $41. (Don't use "diagonal cutters", you want the cable cutters that have overlapping sides.)

Rei has the Park tool cutter for $35, and it includes the cable end crimper. My Park Tool cutter is still sharp and cuts cleanly after replacing 7 or 8 cables over the last 4 or 5 years. ( I fit the housing, then recut a small amount off the end until it's just the right length.)

I have no problem with the Park, but I only use it for cables, not housing. Housing gets cut with the ****s, and finished with the bench grinder.

I don't know of any general purpose cutters for 5mm steel cable that are in the same price range as the bike specific cutters. I use the Park CN-10.

I must be doing it wrong, my park tool seems to be fine but only two cable replacements to date.

i don't have a huge problem with the park but they just did not hold an edge in a professional environment. they dulled in 3 months. the tips on the park are kind of chunky and bulky as well

Park Tool CN-10 works fine. The one that I'm using is from 2008.

I have a pretty old SunTour cable cutter which still works fine (on cables) and also crimps very nicely.
Also have a newer Park tool which I've haven't used lately since switching to the Dremel-with-cut-off-blade housing cutting technique.
