New BB386 frame bottom bracket help
hi everyone, hoping you can tell me if I got screwed here....
I purchased a new Wilier Cento 1 SR frame off line from a legitimate owner (or so I hope) and noticed that when I got the frame its missing any form of bottom bracket shell at all. Now, I know that the new Wilier Cento Uno SR has the FSA BB386 evo, and Wilier says that:
"the BB386 EVO was developed to use press fit bottom bracket cups, eliminating the need for alloy inserts in the shell."
So...does this mean that the frame is "raw" carbon in the bottom bracket, and the PF BB386 bottom bracket goes directly into the frame?
Or is there supposed to still be a some form of "lining" or "sleeve" or "cover" inside the bottom bracket first before the PF BB386 bottom bracket gets installed?
I am running (will be running) an FSA Kforce Light 386 crank, so no adapters needed with the FSA 386 BB, but this is really throwing me for a loop. I am hoping to have the BB and crank installed (because it's a press fit) by my local shop, but would prefer to not look like a complete dumb a*# if I just got screwed purchasing this frame before I take it into my local shop....

Take a Picture of you Measuring, with a Digital Caliper , the ID of the frame where the BB goes .. and a close up of the readings on the display..
there are now many variants of Press Fit cartridge BB's .. Or just Let the shop who can see what you have, cope ..

do you have a pic of the BB? on wilier's website it looks like the BB shell on the frame has a metal insert on the side shown. in any case i wouldn't worry about what the guys at the LBS think. virtually nobody knows all about BB's these days.

like i said, my latest frame had no metal insert in the headtube, so maybe they have fashioned a way to eliminate them in the BB too. if they can, so much to better.
the pic looks like it sure enough is designed that way. so i would just buy the appropriate BB386evo BB and see how it goes.
BTW, is anything tapered in there? it looks in the pic just like my headtube, machined with an angled seat for the bearing.

It's funny cause Im getting almost two different answers from Wilier and the folks over at Competitive Cyclist. CC says the BB386 bottom bracket will press directly into the frame, which makes sense since Wilier says in their description that the whole point (or one of them anyways) of the BB386 was "developed to use press fit bottom bracket cups, eliminating the need for alloy inserts in the shell."
But Wilier says: "The 386 bottom bracket systems require spacers that fit right onto the frame. The shell on our 386 frames have an alloy sleeve for the spacers to sit in."
Perhaps, Wilier is assuming I am not using a BB386 Crank though and if you don't need the spacers, then the alloy sleeve would still be present...but since I am planning on running a 2014 FSA K Force light BB386 with the PF BB386 ceramic BB
maybe the "alloy sleeve for spacers to sit in" isn't necessary?
If the PF BB386 FSA Bottom Bracket sits right in the frame, right against the carbon shell, then everything should be good.
