Older Cannondale Help Please - RD Cable Stop
When putting a '95 R400 back together the rear derailleur cable stop broke loose from the bike. It looks like there is threaded bushing in the stop which threads to a bolt through the chainstay. The bushing sheared off leaving a part of it on the bolt and the rest in the stop.
I'm new to bike wrenching and unsure of my best options.
There is some play in the bolt so I think I can cut the head off with a Dremel, extract the bolt thru the bottom of the stay. Then attempt to thread a longer bolt thru the stay and into the piece of bushing in the stop. Then hope this and some JBWeld will keep it in place.
I assume there are aftermarket stops available as well?? I hate to do this as I like the clean look of the original but...pragmatically I'll do what I need to salvage the bike.
Thought on my repair plan? How would you suggest I fix it?
Thanks!

Can you post a picture ? It's hard to keep track of which style was used on all the various model frames over the years.

Broken Cable Stop Pic's
Here are pictures of the broken stop. You can see the small bolt on the top of the stay and the remainder of the bushing in the stop.
Any help is very much appreciated.

I would expect a pop-rivet would do the job. Might need to run a small drill to clean up the hole first.

Can you run a longer screw the opposite direction and use a nut on top?

In addition the above mechanical methods of reattachment I would also epoxy the stop. Not the quicky 5 minute type either. Andy.

MikeinJax, How many threads are left in the bushing? You may only need a longer screw, but I would also epoxy the stop to the chainstay.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I looked at either a rivet or a screw from the bottom but both would interfere with the cable butt. And unfortunately there's not enough of the bushing left in the stop to thread to so I've tried jbweld. I'm out of town for the next week and I'm leaving it clamped and will see what it looks like next Friday!
By the way, tried the local Cannondale shop - while Cannondale used to carry the stop and screw they no longer do so.

Maybe post an "In Search Of" post in the Classic & Vintage Forum ? Someone may have one in the corner of their tool box that they are willing to part with.
