pedal recomendation

I' sure could use some advice on what to buy.
I've got a Rockhopper 29 that I use for casual riding at the park.
The cheap plastic pedals that Specialized uses are pretty bad. I dont think they have any bearings
they dont even rotate well at all.

I dont need anything fancy, just something that spins freely and will hold up

I found these on Amazon, any good?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007Q4PBO8/...YXY4OXU4&psc=1

thank you

Dave

Bikes: A bunch of old bikes and a few new ones

You don't need to spend that much on bmx pedals. I've been happy with these wellgo pedals that I'm running on my commuter, Amazon.com : Wellgo Alloy BMX Sealed Mountain Bike Pedal, 9/16-Inch, Black : Bmx Platform : Sports & Outdoors

I have had these after I wore out the pedals that came with my bike. Work great and I have never slipped on them with all types of riding in all types of weather.

Have you visited your local bike shop (LBS)? They should have a decent selection of pedals that cost much less than the Amazon stuff.

I like the VP Vice, but I bought a set of these verge platforms for my kid's mountain bike, and for the price they are pretty tough to beat.

Look great for a commuter pedal, but probably worst than the stock pedals on the Rockhopper if going off road. The Op didn't say what they were using the bike for, but if going of road as the bike is designed for, the VP Vice #kingston links to would be ideal

Bikes: old clunker

I see decent wellgo(?) platform pedals in the local big box for ~$15 -- substantially similar to the Saints.

I highly recommend Ergon PC2. Replacing the standard pedals with the PC2 made quite a difference for me.

Public opinion will most likely disagree, but I've had really good luck with Rockbros pedals from China, on eBay. Light, strong, sealed replaceable bearings. No provisions for toeclips, however.

I bought a bunch of these years ago and all the bikes with them are still going strong. Tough and still comfortable with "casual" shoes.

This. My LBS has a bin full of pedals that he's taken off of new bikes because customers want to use either their old ones or a different brand. He sells them at a big discount. And, if you don't like those, he can guide you to a decent pair.

These are great pedals for running around town. I have noticed that they slip when they get wet. My bmx style pedals are more secure.

I'd probably run the stock ones til they wear out. Smooth spinning pedals are nice but not crucial. They'll probably spin better after breaking in also.

If you don't like the foot/pedal interface then that's a better reason for pedal upgrade.

Those are the pedals that I have on my bike and they're excellent!

Those would be a serious downgrade from stock pedals if doing actual trail riding.
