How Hard a Bash are you planning to Slam?
For log and rock jumping hard impacts the thicker ones are the way to go Universal Cycles -- Truvativ Polycarbonate RockGuard - Black w/Stripe

The BBG ones are strong laser cut aluminum, made in the USA. If you are replacing the outer ring with a BBG ring, you need nothing more. If you want to keep the outer ring, you will need to purchase separately longer chain ring bolts and spacers. The BBG ones I purchased leave something to be desired in the metal finishing before anodizing - all the sharp edges.
I also have some by Driveline (ebay, Taiwan); they are beautifully finished, and include longer chain ring bolts and spacers. The Driveline ones are CNC machined aluminum, thicker than BBG.
If you are really looking for a bash guard as opposed to something to keep your pant legs clean, even polycarbonate is not going to do as well as aluminum to protect the chain rings. Injection molded plastic is not the right material for the job.
Bob - those polycarb ones are EXPENSIVE.

& there is the BB mounted ones too that hit the obstacle instead of the Crank & I have one sold under Salsa Brand a QBP line goes for a saw tooth look.
Cyclocross has its own chainguards .. for single chainring cranks .. 110 & 130. 135 for <C>
Campagnolo, back a few years, in 144 Bcd made in 4 diameters for 42 to 52t
I used 1 as a way to make a, chainguard+ 52-36t double out of the classic triples ..
