Unknown Raleigh bike
Hi guys,
I help out at a local (here in Penang malaysia) little bike shack, I'm pretty OK on general bike mechanical work, & this one has come his way, as the guy has no internet I said I would try & help identify it for him, I've looked at many sites but cannot seem to pick this one out, its definitely a Raleigh made in UK, & the serial number can clearly be seen on the offside above the crank it would seem to be 1980 ?
any help on what it is very much appreciated

Nice bike, but the fork appears to be a bit bent back.

also from OldTryGuy yes on close examination the front forks are slightly bent back, its interesting the front rim is not original, although 20" its smaller, ally & newer than the rear which is 20 x 1.75 on broad steel rims.
On close check gain there is a decal that reads " Manufactured under Licence by Raleigh Cycles Malaysia Berhad Selangor Malaysia"
So along with many other models I guess this frame was shipped out from UK as it states on frame "made in England" then all local components were sourced in Malaysia, seems this was very common on several Raleigh bike models in this era.

Strangest looking BMX frame I have seen.

Probably a Grifter. I think they were only available (according to the US catalogs, anyway) from 77-78

That was from the US catalog. If it isn't that bike specifically, it is something similar that wasn't available here. Actually, if that photo is of the bike, then the model is right there...it's a Raleigh Rangler MX. Looks like that wasn't a model we had over here.
