He probably saved the mounts and had them brazed back on later. That's probably what I'll be doing with my frame as soon as I finish stripping the paint of it (although I might actually get the mounts brazed onto my forks as early as next week), before taking it to the powdercoater to get cleared.

sorry for all the confusion, verybad wording on my part, i was being lazy and didnt fully explain my self. i cut the cable and removed the brakes. i would like to cut the mounts but my dad will have a fit and i dont feel like hearing it. my brake mounts are ss and my pants still get hung up on them all the time.

brakes can help you in the air
stop you from over rotating on a manual
I ride at all times with one finger sitting on the brake lever
the only type of brakes thta suck are front brakes and gyro brakes.

You dont need brakes.
Ive jumped my bike plenty of times and I've never fallen due to the lack of brakes. You can use your body to reposition your bike in the air via leaning, tucking, and/or use of your arms.
As for manuals, I can out manual everyone i know, and they all run straight cable brake systems. If you know how to ride a manual you tend not to loop out. Weight shifting, pumping, and good technique also lets you do keep a manual from looping out.
