Bikes: 2011 SE Old Man Flyer.

The paint there wears down anyways due to chainslap from the dérailleur, so you put a cover on it anyways. Alot of people just use an old tube, I actually have a proper one.

Possibly. But usually form has a lot to do with function. I think you meant strength over beauty, or something of the likes.

I still don't get why you would cover it. It just looks uglier. And if you cover it what does it matter what the paint looks like?

Most frames with V-brakes have the cable guides on the side or top of the tt.
