I have seen some of the new Mongoose bikes online...

Before anyone makes any comments, I suggest you actually look at the new Mongoose Team bikes.

The best Huffy on the market, is about one fourth the quality of the Team Mongoose bikes.

They are using the Odyssey Cassette hub, include chrome rims on any wheel that needs braking power, magnesium pedals, 30/11 gearing (!!!), Sun rims, Snafu tires, entirely chromoly...

Holy crap, that bike is VERY good - perhaps one of the best complete bikes available on the market today from any manufacturer. I do not say that lightly. The new Mongoose bikes on the performance end of things, are a call back to the day when the Mongoose Californian or Team Mongoose was the best of the best for bikes on the bmx track.

On the other hand, they still have a fair amount of garbage in their lineup on the lower end of the spectrum that is probably to much money to spend and can there are likely other options that are better for the money.

Well, at least they're finally stepping up to the plate with something quality rather than making the 2005 series of bikes just as bad as the previous years'.

You know, every time I read one of your statements about how great your Huffy is, I can't help but think of a kid doing barturns off curbs.

You need to read your sig line and add - or Toys-R-Us - then think about a new bike.

Mongeese and Geese are two seperate animals, so technically, there is no such thing as a mongander.

All in all, it's a good affordable beginners bike. Buy it at Walmart, if it's not what you like you can always take it back.

Bikes: everywhere

8 years? Wow! Could be a zombie thread record!!!!

I love my Mongoose MTB, it's not from the Walmart line, though.

Ever since the bad Mongeese hit the Walmart floors, the good ones can be had on craigslist pretty cheap sometimes.
