Dish soap! I've used dish soap since reading it as a tip in BMX Plus! back in like 1987 and it works awesome. No water just soap, and they'll slide on "pretty easy" and you can ride in about an hour. If your going to be riding along a cliff or something then let 'em dry overnight. I probably put on 50 pairs of grips in my life between my bikes and all my friends over the years and it just works perfect!
Just put a small ring of soap around your handlebar at the very edge. If it gets too hard to push then back up a bit and put another ring on. Your grips will not come back off without a knife. Be sure to get the old goo off if you repeat this on the same bars in a few years.
