Hey guys im coming to this forum hoping for some help with getting a bmx for a complete beginner.

I've been looking through few online shops for a bmx for under (£170-180) and I found this one

I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that i might not like after few months thats why im looking for something cheap.
It would be awesome if someone could tell me if that bike is alright for a beginner.

If this bike is bad what would you suggest ?

I really don't know much about the bike you have linked, but rather steer you in what options you might consider.

You could always search Craig's List for a rarely used bmx, may score a better deal on a 100% chromoly frame bmx for what you are looking to pay for brand new hi-ten ? That way you don't like bmx, you can sell it off on CL just the same ? With CL, you could really get a Wal-Mart level bmx for next to nothing if trying one out is what you're really uneasy about for a long term or higher dollar purchase. You could almost give a $ 25-50 bmx as a donation for a tax writeoff when or even if you decide to upgrade ?

BTW, this one is the same price, 2010 model, but has 48 spoke wheels not 36 spokes, the entire frame is chromoly.

Thanks for the reply. Is that scorpion company well known?
Also people are saying that the frame is very heavy for a Chromly frame. Is it possible that it's a very cheap type of the metal and that its heavy/unreliable?
Another thing that's weird is that the 2011 Scorpion Scourge is more expensive and has a hi-ten frame...

I think you have it backwards, the 2010 Scorpion is the 100% chromoly and the Saracen is hi ten. The Scorpion model converted to US Dollars was $ 411 vs the Saracen being $ 371, but both are reduced to $ 274.

Anyway, you can see there are several bike options.

I know that the scorpion is chromly but the Q&A says that its aprox. 29lbs and the Saracen (hi-ten) is aprox 27lbs which i find kind of dodgy.

Also i dont think people use CL in UK because theres no bmx's on there in my area
