Still learning
Looks like overkill for the streets of Phili!
There's a frame/fork on ebay bid at $1000 already, closing tonight.
Also this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-Serotta...item1e79d42252
IMHO, the fork is an odd choice, but overall the asking price is probably not too far off the mark, if any.

I think the price is within reason but on the high end. However, KAS, you full well know I'm a cheap @#$%. I'd think about a grand is right, and unless your area's CL is markedly different than mine, it will sit at both his price and mine. At that kinda price, there's no way I would make any sort of offer without seeing the machine. I don't often think of rare and Serotta in the same sentence, but it may be because I have two of them in the living room.

Fork might be original for all we know. Kinesis made aluminum frames under contract for Serotta for a short time, but that didn't go too far.
IMHO, it's posted in the wrong place on CL. Much better to get eyes on the old Serotta forum, now forums.thepaceline.net.

I wasn't really considering it for myself - was just curious what folks thought.

Nice bike and build, but I think the asking price should be around $1000. Good shape, good build, but no real valuable parts and probably too outdated for a real 'cross racer.
Just curious, of all the bikes you have listed, which one is the best riding?

With some Murray decals it would be a great twin for your Huffy MTB

Too small for me, besides I already have this
what I need is a sweet Magna or Next
edit - Whoops, I realize now you did not mean MY Huffy MTB, Sorry.
Actually, when I was looking at buying the Huffy decals, I wondered if they ever made a Titanium Huffy; a google search revealed KAS 's Litespeed.

My best riding bike is the Marnati - hands down. I also really like the Merlin and Vanilla.

Your Marnati is beautiful, nothing beats a custom built for you - great story, too! I like Serottas, but I swear my Merlin was built with fairy dust. Mine is nothing special (on paper) and has a stupid BB, it's not super light and has broken cable guides on the top tube. I don't care about any of that, it is one of the best bikes I've ever ridden. When I saw this post, I thought "Why?" He's already got a Merlin

I'm not sure why I was curious about the Serotta...I do think it's a cool bike, but had no idea what I thought it was worth and decided to ask. Used ti just doesn't hold value well...which doesn't make much sense considering it's material properties. I think you know I agree with you about Merlins...I'm not sure what Kellogg does, but it's probably the nicest stock bike I've ridden.

If it flexed anything like my Litespeeds, it wouldn't make it very long in cross racing.
I think it is grossly overpriced for the build. I see it as a $600 frameset and a rebuild.
Where it makes the most sense is as a gravel road racer.
I've seen a couple used this summer in our events we've ridden.
They have decent wheelbase and the ability to stuff some decent rubber in the stays.
That might make it a "buy" at a significantly lower pricepoint.
Edit: Plus, bar ends are a zany choice for a cross racer. That would hurt like heck getting stabbed in the thigh.

Thinking more $700-900. Fork is weird for that frame. Parts selection goes downhill fast after the headset and hubs.
Glad I'm not the only one who's found Litespeed's to be too flexy.

Probably rides fine though.
I have no big beef with a ti Serotta though.
Forum member Buldogge has a Serotta ti Legend that I'd likely trade a couple of bikes for, it's that nice.
This one needs some major rethink though, even at $900.

For what it's worth, my Litespeed built look was flexy as heck.
The LS mtb is what you'd expect - a tank.

Constant tinkerer
I don't think this was intended as a 'cross build. If it was someone clearly doesn't know anything about cyclocross... This is a touring build, and a pretty good one IMO. The only thing that doesn't fit with that is the aluminum fork. I'm not sure how much practical use the bike has as-is so the price seems high. But the frame/fork alone is worth enough to justify most of the price.
