Should I buy Carlton Criterium?

I can't really find much on this model other than that it was one of the last ones made in the Carlton workshop. I'm trying to decide if I should buy it or not, if I do it would be to resell because I recently bought a nice Miele that I'm already working on. Any ideas of what this bike is worth? The owner is the original owner and bought it new in 1979. I tried to upload the pictures but it keeps saying upload failed.

No. A bike that nice deserves to be bought by someone who is excited to own it.

I don't think I'm going to hurt the bike's feelings by buying it.

Also I'd be putting it back into service and selling it to someone thats excited about it.

Welcome to the forum!

Re pictures, best thing to do is to upload them to a photo hosting service such as Picasa or Flickr; grab the url and paste it into your reply, with a [/IMG] after it and a [IMG] in front of it.

The guys are being a little huffy 'cuz they sense a mercenary motivation behind to your question. Of course it's a good thing to get the bike into the hands of someone who will appreciate it, but there's something about your post that suggests you're going to profit from it as well, which... you know, we're shocked, shocked, but we've all done it... we just try to be subtle.

There is another forum for appraisals, by the way. Flippers welcome there.

Thanks for your help! I'll do that next time.

I don't think people should be guilted/feel guilty about buying a bike for profit. Most of the time there isn't much profit and it comes from the work done to get a bike in working condition. Also I'm a university student so I don't have much spending money and flipping a bike every once in a while helps me afford a bike I am excited to own.

We all agree 100% with this sentiment. Some are too egalitarian to admit, a couple of jealous grumpy folks.
