If it fits and you are looking for a keeper that is a fair price, it needs new tires and overhaul from the pictures but use to your advantage to try and get a better deal. Maybe some damage to that rd, hard to say for sure but likely it was ridden vs garage bound. But with some work that should make a great tour bike, mid 80s was the peak of the Japanese tour bike and has everything you need.

Still learning
I believe it has been on the market for several months, so the market would consider it overpriced. In any event, IMHO, if it needs new consumables and an overhaul, it is $150 overpriced, because if you don't do your own work, you'll spend $200 to get it road ready.

Thanks, I sorta figured it was a bit high. Is it really comparable with Miyata 1000 or Centurion Pro

That's a fine bike in good shape. $350 is not a bad price; even better if you can get it for less. It lacks the cachet of a miyata 1000 but it is comparable in terms of the tubing (seamless chrome moly) and the parts groups is very good. Knock the price down and buy it if it fits.

market determines much. if that was around here i'd think it would fly off the shelf. offer 300 and even if you "overpay" by $50 it wont mean a thing after a month of riding. and yes, it is comparable to the miyata and centurion but they will set you back 600+

It has everything you would want in a tourer, just not the name recognition-- triple water bottles brazes, front fork bosses, double eyelets front/rear, vertical dropouts, those 40h/36h sealed sansin hubs are great wheels if the cartridge version, 27in but cannot go wrong. I agree, as good as the 1000 but not a name that gets love so if it has been sitting make an offer. New tires, repack the headset and bb and should be set, convert to bar ends later if you want. I call these non hyped tourers the sleepers, 86 was great year for Japanese tour bikes but I am biased with 1985 t700 very similar bike.

Personally I wouldn't low ball the seller too much. The S has a pretty good idea of what he has and what it's worth. This level of bike doesn't come up very often and usu. it is not in as good a cosmetic shape as this bike is.

It's really hard to gauge price on these old touring bikes with cantis. One day one will go for $60 the next $300 is totally reasonable. I would try to get the seller closer to a $250-275 mark, as those tires definitely need replaced (picture 4 they are dry rotting- use this as negotiation point), and you'll likely want to do a full tuneup before putting many miles on including cables and lubing the bearings. Beward that the cantis may be hard to dial in if you make the switch to 700c wheels from what are likely 27" wheels on there right now.

I would also say the price is reasonable for a keeper and yes it is as comparable to other top end Japanese touring bikes from the 80's. As for the bike not selling in a while I suspect a lot of that has to do with the location and time of year which works to the OP's advantage when negotiating price.
