Peugeot PGN-10 - is this a good deal?
Hey all,
This is going to sound like I'm uninformed and new to cycling, and well, that's because I am. I have very basic knowledge of cycling and the brands involved. I've seen pretty fair praise about Peugeot's on here, so I've been sifting through craigslist ads and looking at ones with "Peugeot" in the title.
I'm starting my fall semester of college in Sacramento this year and I want a simple road bike to get me to and from class (10 miles roundtrip), as well as daily rides throughout the city (mostly flat ground). I'm a student, so I don't have a very high budget, so I've been looking at older, used bikes on craigslist.
I'm just wondering if this is a good deal or not. The fact that he includes "parts are hard to find for Peugeot's" in the ad worries me. Looking for any feedback here. If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to let me know!
Thanks in advance.

Still learning
Probably a 1985. 60cm frame for a rider 6'0-6'3"
Excellent bike, being offered at FMV.
I have one, no issues with parts given model year.

The Motobecane is an inferior frameset, hi tensile steel and is overpriced by 2x.

I have an 85 Peugeot and it rides amazing. It's completely upgraded, but I'm still using the stock fork and headset. It just has a really nice feel.

Late to the party. I have a PGN10 of the same size. Agree fully w/oddjob2, awesome mid-level model, rides lovely. Got mine for $130 with a broken RD, otherwise in great shape.

You over paid @francophile.
I drove just over an hour to Athens GA to get it, the guy wasn't there like he said he'd be but his office assistant was. I told myself I wasn't going to pay more than $100 for the damn thing if anything was wrong with the mount, and he never mentioned the RD (sx610, OEM) was literally cracked in half at the mount. The assistant wouldn't negotiate, said he was on his way in and should be there in 10-15 minutes.
25 minutes rolled around, and I was getting ready to hit the window where traffic would double my trip time home, so it was one of those cases of, "drive out there for nothing" or "pay $30 more than I wanted and save an hour of life sitting in traffic". I chose the latter.
Had the ask been $150, my ass would've scrambled for home. I will say this though: It's been an awesome bike. It's all original, no damage, forks and decals are pretty pristine. I've got it torn down to bare frame (fixed cup only) and it's on the stand for a rebuild. Considering selling it to make room this summer, but ... man. I really enjoy riding it.
